Autumn transitions in my home

As summer fades away, so does the natural light. I find myself chasing the last bit of rays, like never before. We all know when those dark days come, out comes the tripods and ISO settings into the 1000’s. Especially for those who work outside of the home, and don’t return home until 4 pm, but feels like 11 pm.

I think we can all agree that there is nothing like natural light. It is what I ALWAYS look for in a home. Granted, studio lighting and directors of artificial light, are masters and deserve their due reward. I fully respect them and am in constant awe of their wonderful work. But for my home, I have to have light streaming through every morning.

As autumn is here, I am gearing up to transition my home. I am not the type to change every single thing for the season. However, I like to add some warmth and cozier moments here and there.

A muted, burnt orange tone is comforting in the colder months. Would you agree? It gives me the stay-at-home feels, when it’s dark and cold outside. I like to add little touches in my bedroom + bathroom.

Bringing the outdoors in (as they say), is quite compelling and comfy. I will search for excess branches or leaves, which have been discarded. I don’t go crazy. But it does add texture and interest to a rather cold space.

Warm lighting + coffee, lots and lots of coffee, are my friends in the darker seasons.

So, what do you do to warm up your home for the autumn and winter months? I’d love to know!
