I had been dreaming about it for years, and when my husband mentioned that he’d be traveling to Europe for business, and that we should make a brief stop in Copenhagen…needless to say, I lost my ever-loving mind.

To me, Copenhagen is the architectural and interior design center of the world. The history, the architecture, the quaint streets, the muted color tones, and the epic interior showrooms were everything and more. For someone who truly enjoys photography + Nordic design, Copenhagen has it all and more.

My lovely husband and I had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel SP34 in the Latin Quarter of Copenhagen. I loved many things about our stay there (a future blog is coming regarding our stay), but what really stood out was how easily accessible it was to the main neighborhoods. We hopped on the Metro, which is recently new to Copenhagen, and arrived right outside of Frederiksgade!

Filling up my camera card was NO problem

This little area captivated us. As soon as you step off the Metro, a quick 180 degree turn, and the gorgeous Marble Church (Frederik’s Church) is shining in all her glory. In my opinion, the copper green dome distinguished it among the others. I felt so small in comparison to her grandeur.

As we ventured down the street from the Marble Church, we ran in the the changing of the guard at noontime. It was eerily still and quiet. My husband told me to not say anything. That was difficult, in and of itself haha. But an incredible experience, nonetheless.

In the neighborhoods we visited, what struck me was how many cyclists shared the road with pedestrians and drivers. The streets are not the same as those in America. Everything in Copenhagen (including the streets), is smaller and more efficient, in my opinion. Seeing the rows of bicycles at all times, made me want to purchase one, the second I returned home. But then again, I’d have to ride many miles to get to a grocery store, which works too, I guess.

The City Centre, where a majority of the shops were, housed the most delicious coffee shops + cafes, which making walking even more pleasurable. Every Copenhagen district had its’ own special vibe. Granted, we just scratched the surface and didn’t nearly come close to visiting them all. But that’s what makes exciting, is that we can always visit for more.

I found that the Danes were extremely friendly, and loved to communicate with us…even though, I had to reach out to them first. They seemed a bit shy initially, until I started talking, and then they opened up without hesitation. Reading Danish was effortless, hearing it and speaking it? That was a whole different issue. Ha.

I’m thrilled that we had the opportunity to experience Copenhagen, even though it was for a short time. It is satisfying to have a taste of it, before 3 Days of Design 2020. Can’t wait to return to one of the finest + most captivating cities, I’ve ever visited.
